Whats bottled up has to break free some time posted Jul 2nd 2006, 1:15AM
Mood: Bitter
To me if someone buys a pet its because they want companionship and love or something to that nature. This pet then becomes part of the family for better or for worse. So what I can't understand is why if this pet starts doing unwanted acts that people automatically seem to give up this pet. I would like to think if a family member did something unwanted that you still keep them in the family because indeed they are family and you should stick together.

Well right now I am getting irritated with almost all the adults in my immediate family.

I used to have a cat named Chloe. I loved her to death; she was a lap cat, which is one of my favorite kinds of cats. They need to love to cuddle you know. Anyway, we got her from the humane society. Her last owners were abusive so she had some habits bred into her because of the fear when she was younger. She would be skittish at a sudden sound and also she had a habit of eating her food as fast as she could. Maybe she did this because she thought food would not be coming after this. I don't know, but I dealt with it, even sometimes sitting beside her and making sure she ate slower. That probably made it worse though. Well because she ate so fast she would throw up later in the day of an upset stomach. We took her to the vet and they said that she was not sick or anything so she should be fine. She used to puke every day, however, I had after awhile managed where she would puke maybe once every three days. I had no problem going behind her and picking up after her. My mother hated it though, she always joked about getting rid of her and I would always ask her if I did something irritating would she get rid of me. She would shrug and go on with the day. Then she waited until I was at my dads and unable to do anything before abandoning her back to the humane society. Cats and dogs have feelings to, they are sad when your gone and they are happier when their owners are giving them attention. Imagining what trauma Chloe had to of had being given up again must have been horrible. People can't tell me they are so dumb that they don't realize when they are abandoned. Dogs and cats go through phases. A dog will stop eating if a former owner dies or goes away. I admit cats are more self centered so after awhile if they are getting food and a place to rest most will be fine, but with Chloe obviously just giving her food and a cage is not enough. She still had those problems from the earlier owners.

Then my dad also had a cat named Momo, my sister named it. As a kitten she was the sweetest little thing. She was loving and she also loved to ride on my shoulder. She would even use her claws to climb up my jeans to try and get up there. Sure when we first got her there was the incidents about her peeing on my sister and on our beds, but that's understandable. She wasn't potty trained yet. Anyway we went home for the year then came back the next summer. She was totally changed. She only wanted to be by herself and she only wanted loving when she was being fed. I don't understand what could have happened to her, but hey you have to deal with it. When my dad moved in with his new significant other things started to get from bad to worse. Ed hated Momo, hated everything about her. She was too mean to Casey and she was always attacking her. Well if Casey would stop being a stupid head and leave the cat alone then obviously the cat would of left your precious dog alone. He also hated that of you didn't clean her box everyday she would do her business in the sink or tub. So what if Momo was picky, how hard is it to scoop up the little bit of stuff she managed to do for the day. We went home again for the school year and come back to find Momo was gone. Abandoned again. It was all Ed's fault; Dad wouldn't have done it without his pushing.

We are babysitting Ed's bosses dog named Rusty. He is the cutest little dog, though he gets jealous easily and Casey has been nervous all weekend. So of course Ed is getting his superior attitude and stating how Casey is so much better then Rusty. To me I prefer Rusty more then the dumb dog Casey. She never leaves you alone she is always in your face and she won't stop trying to play. Why does she have to attach herself to me? I hate dogs and being suffocated by one is irritating. However, she is family whether I like her or not so I deal with it. Anyway, Rusty has been spraying around trying to claim the house. Boy dogs do that when they are in a new place. He needs a little bit more attention and needs to be watched. Which is fine with me, during the summer I have nothing to do anyway. Though when I was upstairs in my room and reading, Rusty does stuff down stairs because no one was watching him. So they kick rusty outside and ignore him even more. Ed then calls all his family and again goes through the process of complaining about Rusty and how Casey is just SO MUCH BETTER then Rusty. Give me a break, Casey does bad things too. Your just not told because you get all defensive about it and say oh she is just a dog she doesn't know any better. Well Rusty is a dog too you know... Ed says if Rusty was his dog he would have been at the pound already. I haven't talked to Ed lately and I don't care if I never talk to him again. I used to like him, but his superior attitude is getting on my nerves.

What I am trying to say is, if someone gets a pet they should stick to their decision. In my opinion it's the same as deciding to have a baby. If they are not as perfect as you wanted them to be, it doesn't give you the right to abandon them. That's uncaring and totally selfish.

Side note: If I get lectured by Ed one more time, because I didn't pick up something exactly when I am done with it I will seriously yell back. I mean if I leave it on the table, because I am running up stairs to get something then coming right back down to use it again what's the problem. Your house doesn't need to be clean every single second of your damn life.

Another side note: July 8 at 2pm I will be getting my tattoo.
